Emergency Practice Run

As a part of a training drill, emergency responders are preparing for a plane crash with mass casualties at the Boeing Field in Seattle, Washington.

The drills involve using the fuselage of a jet to simulate a crash and emergency response for a large number of victims.

Like any training, these practice scenarios help prepare firefighters, police officers, and paramedics for an actual plane crash by creating a realistic environment with a large number of patients.

Mass casualty situations are relatively rare and have different medical protocols from daily accidents. Aircraft or bus crashes and hazardous material leaks are examples of mass casualty situations.

These type of  training drill helps satisfy airports meet FAA requirements for its Airport Emergency Plan.

There will be approximately 400 people who will participate in the sessions.
