Fire has broken on a parked Boeing787 Dreamliner at Heathrow Airport. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner belongs to Ethiopian Airlines and no passengers were on board. Boeing 787 Dreamliner had problems before with the lithium batteries and it was grounded four months earlier.
Boeing said that they will investigate the cause of the fire on Ethiopian Airlines – The Queen of Sheba.
The plane was parked for 8 hours when the fire started.
The Heathrow airport suspended all incoming and outgoing traffic , disrupting the travel plans of thousands of passengers. Most of the planes trying to land on Heathrow were diverted to Gatwick,Luton and Manchester.
Heathrow issued a statement:
“We can confirm there has been an on-board internal fire involving an Ethiopian Airlines aircraft and the airport’s emergency services are in attendance.” The runways were reopened after more than an hour.
The Boeing shares dropped as high as 5% to 99.58$ after the fire incident in Heathrow.
